1876
Founded by Eugen Verpoorten in Heinsberg near Aachen
(1815 – 1888).
1920
Production moved to Berlin while Willy Verpoorten (3rd generation) heads the company.
1936
Branch opened in Straubing/Lower Bavaria by Elly Verpoorten (wife of Willy Verpoorten).
1945
New start in Straubing after the II World War.
1952
Cornerstone laid for the new main headquarters in Bonn on the Rhine.
1955
Viktor Verpoorten (4th generation) starts advertising activities, first print and then TV (black/white).
1960
Rebuilding of the former operating facility in Berlin.
1961
Our famous advertising slogan “Ei, ei, ei Verpoorten...” is created, and remains unchanged until the present.
1965
Installation of state-of-the-art egg cracking and controlling machinery in Bonn. Separation is now fully automatic.
1970
Establishment of licensed production companies in neighboring European countries. Global export of bottled products also begins.
1989
Establishment of a modern, in-house food inspection laboratory to further ensure quality.
1988/1989
Modernization of the in-house egg cracking system with powerful American machinery by Seymour.
1993
Purchase of property to expand the Bonn company headquarters. Construction of a new product tank storage system.
1994
Integration of the Berlin production facility
1997
Purchase of an additional property for expansion and to provide climate-controlled storage capacity for bottled goods.
1999
The company grants partner licenses for manufacturing Verpoorten ice cream, frozen tarts and chocolate products.
2000
Further expansion of tank capacity.
2001
The Verpoorten family company celebrates its 125th birthday.
2002
The company adds another major licensing partner from the bakery sector.
2003
William Verpoorten (5th generation) presents the first Verpoorten book “Mixen, Kochen, Backen” (Mix, cook, bake) with 50 easy to follow culinary recipes.
2004
Verpoorten successfully launches a new advertising campaign; authentic ad spots using lay amateur actors appear on TV.
2005/2006
Verpoorten enters into additional licensing partnerships with coffee manufacturer Jacobs, Bremen (“JACOBS CAPPUCCINO SPECIALS Verpoorten”) and gingerbread manufacturer Wicklein/Schmidt, Nuremberg (Wicklein gingerbread hearts HEARTS & STARS with Verpoorten).
2007/2008
Two successful online workshops are launched with world champion cocktail mixologist Torsten Spuhn, Modern Masters. This allows participants an introduction into the art of cocktails with our classic yellow liqueur.
2008/2009
Deli foods manufacturer Edmund Merl, Brühl works with Verpoorten to develop fresh dessert options for the refrigerated convenience market. The partnership starts with four seasonal recipe ideas.
2009
The company Kuchenmeister GmbH, Soest launches new licensed products, including Baumkuchen and a holiday cake finished with VERPOORTEN ORIGINAL.
2010/2011
We continue our workshop series in Munich and Cologne with German master barista Nana Holthaus-Vehse and Chef-Pâttisier, Alexandra Lang, to demonstrate the versatile uses of VERPOORTEN ORIGINAL.
2011
Energy revolution, part 1: “VERPOORTEN catches the sun!” Bonn's largest photovoltaic system begins operations on the facility's roof. With a total surface area of 3,500 m2, it generates up to 183.4 kW/hour.
2012
Energy revolution, part 2: VERPOORTEN begins operation of a gas-powered cogeneration plant. With this second innovative energy source, the company demonstrates its commitment to sustainable energy use.
2012/2013
A new, emotional TV ad with music composed exclusively for the company goes on air. “Feel Verpoorten” - indulgently creamy since 1876!
2014
VERPOORTEN goes SOCIAL media! Go live on Facebook and YouTube.
2016
The classic yellow liqueur celebrates its 140th birthday with a 70s theme.
2018
"VERPOORTEN ... AS VERSATILE AS WE ARE" is the advertising slogan behind our new ad, which we are broadcasting on TV and online, as well as on social media (Facebook / YouTube).
In addition to our “classic” liqueur, a new VERPOORTEN edition with a new bottle and label design was introduced in the spring. The “Peach-maracuja” flavor, with exotic fruity notes, is an ideal choice for summer drinks.
Thanks to the positive response we received, we created another new taste with the “Amaretto-apricot” flavor in fall.
2018/2019
Seasonal VERPOORTEN EDITIONS are introduced. Peach-passion fruit for spring and summer; amaretto-apricot for fall. These independent flavors have deliberately separate bottle shapes and features.
2019/2020
Following the successful launch of the VERPOORTEN EDITIONS, a further layered dessert was added to the product portfolio together with the license partners, Feinkost Manufaktur MERL, and the "peach-passion fruit" flavor was extended to the product portfolio with the chocolate manufacturer, RC-Confiserie.
2020
In addition to the classic VERPOORTEN PUNSCH, a new fruity "peach and passion fruit" punch variant has now been introduced.
2021
Viktoria Verpoorten (6th generation) took over as Head of Purchasing in March 2021 after four years of professional experience in the consumer goods industry and a trainee program in-house.
Three further VERPOORTEN EDITIONS with the flavors hazelnut, Williams pear and apricot are presented as OKTOBERFEST EDITIONS in the heart-shaped bottle.
In the fall, the new winter drink VERPOORTEN EDITION Bombardino is presented as the Italian side of the house.
2024
Verpoorten presents its peach-passion fruit, Bombardino and the popular eggnog in a new design. These are now sold in the classic 0.7 litre bottle to increase brand and product recognition.
2025
Viktoria Verpoorten (6th generation) joins the company's management team.
2026
The family business is celebrating its 150th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, the yellow classic is being released in a golden edition that combines modernity and tradition.
